‘Meet the Team’ web pages are becoming a good way to show your resourceful team as part of your organizational work. It is not the latest buzz but yes, many organizations have come forward to showcasing it as their creative catalogue on websites. As a result, many online agencies have derived great audience attention, thanks to the creatively designed ‘Meet the Team’ web pages.
While there could be generous reasons for putting up the whole team so creatively assembled, the very first reason seems to be to draw users to your website. But, the second is to hang them on for a good purpose, I suppose. That’s marketing.
Firstly, let’s learn about how these web pages can be designed interestingly.
Guidelines for creating a usable ‘meet the team’ page
1. Say it in the best possible manner
There have been quite a few innovative ways through which digital agencies are presenting their team before the online audience. When you represent your team in a unique way, it helps keep users engaged and triggers their curiosity. It also shows the unique aspects of your company, as a whole.
Most commonly, designers like to keep it simple, and do not make it a serious matter. All you need is to present the unique side of your team in a great way. Do not make it sound unprofessional; rather try using an offbeat manner. Make it interesting.
2. The team goes live
‘Meet the Team’ pages add a unique flavor to a brand, its name and its services. A team means those people who not only support a company’s endeavors, but also those who help in making a bigger picture of your brand. By highlighting your team in a creative manner, you are, in a way, garnering a lot of appreciation from the audience and winning their trust for your brand.
3. Hi, my name is Bob…
It is always natural that one is curious in knowing the person who is behind the show. Thus, it should also be natural for the business to show the human face that the user is reading about.
Whatever you decide to share online affects us users in a number of ways. Therefore it is important to decide carefully on how you are going to present your team before the audience.
Even if there is this whole team to represent the organization, every individual is special essentially provides a singular contribution in his/her role. The curious, odd picture carries to others the similar effect that you are trying to build with the creative display of your team. See the same effect at Red Urban.
4. Design matters
Lately ‘Meet the Team’ pages are suggesting that designs matter a lot. Companies have gone far to get best designed ‘Meet the Team’ pages to showcase their team. As long as the team matters, design matters too. Check lg2.
5. Actions speak louder than words
While everything has been said about each team member using text, the rest of the showcasing can be done via unique add-ons. For example, offbeat photos, social media links, animations or some uniqueness in the expanded profiles of your team members. Put a jiffy kind of stuff; add humor or some action that adds to the brand or business identity. Give your team members descriptions that are witty (without overdoing it both textually and graphically). In every effort of designing the pages, try to keep a connection between the real and online appearances of your team.
The second part of my post lists sites that in my opinion offer the finest examples of ‘Meet the Team’ pages.
Examples of awesome meet the team pages
Rethink – curiously different
Quite sure, you may not have visited something like this before. ‘Rethink’ has a totally different but an amazing way to present its team of ‘Rethinkers’. The page transforms its ‘partners and staff’ into some kind of action figures – each standing on a separate round dais – using different props like a trumpet, a baseball bat, balloons, an umbrella, a hunter, cookies, a scooter, a guitar, animals, etc.
SPINX Digital – multifaceted
Los Angeles based digital agency Spinx showcases a page that immediately offers the feel of the company behind it – one that provides creative and technical digital solutions. The large, passionate team that makes up Spinx shows up with ‘still’ and ‘composed’ faces until one moves their cursor on the profile image to be treated with an entertaining movement. The face tilts and begins to smile!
Name.com – colorful
Name.com displays its “our team” page in a comic manner. All team members, including the female ones, are wearing differently-colored moustaches – white, half-white, pink, black etc. – and of different types too like – the Cowboy style, Horseshoe-shaped, the American Standard, the Handlebar, etc.

The Moz team is placed so as to create a user-friendly experience as you can segregate the team members under different work categories: marketing, engineering, e-team, UX & design, etc. Profile pictures are kept original. On clicking each profile, you find a good description that tells you more about the individual, on a personal front too.

The South London based marketing consultancy Digital Marmalade shows up its confident team with a brick wall background. When you click on an individual’s photo, it flips to give you information under three different categories: ‘industry’, ‘personal’ and ‘superhero’.

Lateral is a creative company that delivers tailor-made solutions into design and technology. The Lateral team members display a funny action each time you move your cursor on their profile image. The black and white image turns into a colored photo and the rest of the team starts looking towards the selected image. Among all the profiles, there is a “Bogus” dog that refers to ‘Special Projects’.

The team web page of Blog Advertising is prettily designed and active. Even before you move your cursor, their faces are mischievous. When you move your cursor, they look at you holding different objects like bioscope, helmet, banana, etc. or do some freakish act.
