Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 Review

The Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 might just as well be the best keyboard for your living room. This is because it is not just any wireless keyboard – that is too bulky for the living room or too small for productivity. It is just the right size for anyone who uses a Home Theatre PC (HTPC). In fact, the K400 is small, wireless and has an in-built touchpad. And if that is not enough, you can get the Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 for just $39.99.

Great Features at an Affordable Price

Compact and lightweight, the K400 is a complete keyboard in the sense that it contains the full set of keys. The keys are sleek and low-profile and are very easy and confortable to type with. It is powered by 2 AA batteries and has an on-off switch so that you can turn it off when not using it – thus making it very inexpensive to run. In fact, you can go for a full year* without charging your batteries (*estimate based on 2 million keystrokes/year in an office environment).

On the downside, the keyboard is made out of plastic and its keys are held by rubber domes, thus making the keys less sensitive to touch. But then again, this is a keyboard whose objective is to be used in the living room and not for the desktop. Therefore, when taken in consideration of its shape, size and flexibility, the K400 beats most of its competitors and is definitely far better than the conventional remote control.

The 3.5 inch built-in multi-touch touchpad is also a great feature of the K400. It is very large in proportion with the rest of the keyboard (roughly the same size as a standard touchpad for a 15-inch laptop). A key characteristic is the larger-than-normal buttons just underneath it.

Since the K400 has been developed with the living room in mind, it contains volume controls and a mute key. It also boasts of a long (33 feet / 10m) wireless range .
